Upgrade of Infrastructure at Githunguri Ranching Primary School In Kiambu County

The Challenge

The school is home to over 35 pupils with different special needs such as intellectual and physical challenges. The school also caters for children with autism. Unfortunately, even after a special unit was set up in 2005, the school still lacked infrastructural capacity suitable for the children's needs.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation invested over Kshs.4million towards upgrading the school infrastructure to provide conducive learning environment for the pupils with special needs. The investment was used to construct two special classrooms, four pit latrines and purchase of teaching aid for the children.

The Impact

The infrastructure upgrade in the school has made it easy for the pupils in the school to access basic education infrastructure such as good classroom and pit latrines.
