OUR IMPACT

Drilling of a borehole at Zabibu Centre in Kiambu County

The Challenge

Zabibu Center is non-profit making Centre offering formal and non-formal education and vocational services. Its mission is to provide quality education and training to girls and young women with disabilities and special needs so as to enable them attain their full potential and participate effectively in the society. The center had been hard pressed for water as the only borehole served the entire community of 1000 people.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Pamoja initiative,a Safaricom staff funding scheme, funded the drilling of the borehole at Kshs 1,881,222. There being a distinct need to provide special needs education as a key component of a holistic approach to education, Safaricom Foundation saw the obligation to provide easy access to water for Zabibu Centre.

The Impact

This enabled Zabibu Centre achieve its mission to provide quality education and training to girls and young women by providing education that is tailor-made to address their special needs; and to enable them attain their full potential and to meaningfully contribute to and participate effectively in society throughout their life.
