About the project

The Challenge

Safaricom Foundation’s Wezesha Programme has partnered with Generation in Kenya to support youth to access job opportunities, in line with the Foundation’s objective to transform lives and build communities.

The Intervention

Generation is a global youth education to employment programme that connects unemployed and underemployed youth with skills and jobs, and helps provide high-quality entry-level talent for employers.

The Impact

Since Generation was launched in Kenya in 2015, with support from USAID, McKinsey and Company and partnerships with various implementation and employment partners, Generation in Kenya has graduated 9,000+ youth through 56 training locations distributed across 18 counties and have placed 88% of the graduates into meaningful employment through five training programmes: Financial Services Sales,Sewing Machine Operators, Customer Service Agents, Distributed Sales and Retail and Restaurant Services.
