About the project

The Challenge

Warao Primary School has a population of 227 students and is located in a very poor community in Rachuonyo, Kendu Bay in Homa Bay County.
Due to the poor condition of learning facilities and sanitation, some parents have been forced to move the students to other schools. The school is not been able to sufficiently cater for these facilities due to inadequate funds.
The school had only two classrooms sponsored by Karachuonyo CDF.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Know and Grow Project that was done in collaboration with the Tinga Tinga Tales Foundation and Coca Cola Company contributed Sh 900, 000 towards the construction and furnishing of a permanent classroom that can hold 50 students.

The Impact

The pupils of Warao Primary School are now able to concentrate on learning as they now have a more hygienic and study friendly settings to learn.
