About the project

The Challenge

The institution needed to be upgraded to support vocational and ICT training. TheĀ  goal was to increase access to TVET.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the TVET programme officially launched the TVET centre in Waithaka and commissioned the first 100 students. The Foundation invested KES 132 Million in the project.

The Impact

Equipping and upgrading vocational and training institutions in various parts of the country is expected to promote interest among students and consequently increase school enrolment. This will reduce flooding of the job market as there is diversification of skills hence decline of unemployment rates among the youth.
