About the project

The Challenge

The children’s home could not sustain the 236 children due to the COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. This resulted to some kids being handed over back to their extended relatives where they are provided with food on a weekly basis. Donations from well-wishers also reduced as the economy was striking bad.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation, through the COVID 19 kitty, donated food hampers at KES 240,000.

The Impact

The food hampers are expected to benefit over 100 households that comprise of children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and people living with HIV/AIDS. This will help reduce the cases of starvation and malnutrition in the area.
