About the project

The Challenge

Bazaar Football club is located in former Mwingi district, Migwani division, Nzauni location. It was formed in the early 90’s and formally registered in 2001 with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Its membership is drawn from youths who join the club by paying a small fee.
The club endeavors to nurture local sporting talent through sporting activities, ensure proper use of leisure time, transform the community through development initiatives i.e. water conservation and improve football standards in the area to enable them compete in local and regional tournaments.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation seeks to make positive contributions through activities that revolve around strengthening the social fabric of our communities and contributing towards changing lives in a sustainable manner. Safaricom Foundation supported the club with a grant amount of Kshs 92,491 for purchase of branded soccer sports kits from Nairobi Sports House

The Impact

The youth are now able to spend quality time in the club and this will be key in reducing crime in the area. They are also able to confidently compete in local tournaments and represent the area in regional tournaments besides sports will also enhance building Kenya’s national pride.
