About the project

The Challenge

The school lacked a consistent supply of water making pupils to source water from a stream that was distant from the school. This was time-consuming as the time that would have otherwise been used for learning ended up being spent in fetching water.
Handwashing was also a challenge especially during this hard COVID-19 times where sanitation and handwashing is key.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation’s Ndoto Zetu initiative donated a 10,000 liters water tank and gutters.

The Impact

The water tank is enabling the school to harvest and store clean water to be used daily as well as during the dry season. The school performance is expected to improve as time is maximized for schoolwork and not fetching water.
