About the project

The Challenge

The hospital lacked a maternity wing, they conducted antenatal care clinics but when mothers were due, the facility had to refer them to other hospitals for delivery and post-natal care services. The situation was not ideal for many mothers as their social economic status was low and the referral hospitals were located kilometers away.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation’s Pamoja Scheme donated maternity equipment worth KES 1 Million. They comprised of 2 delivery beds, wheelchairs, fire extinguishers, stethoscopes, BP machines, bedding among others.

The Impact

The dispensary is in capacity to provide quality maternal and post-natal services to mothers. Furthermore, mothers need not travel far away to access these services hence assuring their safety and health. With the help of the equipment, the medical team is able to attend to many patients which will help alleviate maternal and child mortality rates in the county.
