About the project
The COVID-19 pandemic had stalled small scale enterprises and threw them into near collapse. It had reversed the gains some of them had made before the pandemic.
Safaricom Foundation, in partnership with Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, contributed KES 12 million to support 400 community groups comprising 8, 000 members to pave way for 5, 600 new enterprises. The counties targeted are Busia, Kajiado, Migori, Nairobi, Nakuru and Baringo.
The investment has led to the creation of new enterprises and empowerment of community groups.
