About the project

The Challenge

The school lacked enough classrooms and pit latrines that would accommodate the population. Initially, the school was demolished due to community conflicts and border disputes. As a result, the school infrastructure had to be constructed from scratch but most parents could not afford to contribute towards this. The available classes were grass thatched such that students would occasionally get rained on and attacked by snakes, therefore disrupting learning.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Pamoja Scheme constructed a classroom worth KES 1,000,000.

The Impact

The class room has created a secure and conducive structure for learning. Students and teachers are motivated to improve the academic results as there are limited disruptions from weather changes and animals such as snakes.
