About the project
In 2019, the girls’ latrine collapsed due to heavy rains. Since then, boys and girls have had to share one latrine. Sharing of one latrine resulted to the obstruction of privacy as well as hygiene and sanitation issues due to straining of the facility by the high school population.
Safaricom Foundation’s Pamoja Scheme supported the school with the construction of eight toilets at a cost KES 500,000.
The new toilets have improved the hygiene standards and reduced congestion among the over 1,000 pupils in the school. The renovations have provided a more conducive learning environment that is expected to boost the school academic performance.
