About the project
For the last 20 years The African Braille Centre has supported children with visual impairment within special schools and the Integrated Education Programmes with Braille literature, educational materials, devices and equipment. In addition to provision of teaching and learning materials to institutions, ABC is also involved in the training of transcribers in repair and maintenance of Perkins Braillers – a device used by blind children to write Braille.
Safaricom Foundation has supported ABC by funding the production of digital audio books to enhance their education.
There has been a significant difference in the lives of children with visual impairment in this country.
