About the project
Mombasa County was one of the most affected counties with COVID-19 infections. The health workers in the county needed to be equipped to handle the rising number of infections and be able to contain the spread as well as provide care for patients.
Safaricom Foundation handed over personal protective equipment (PPEs) worth KES 3 million to 500 health workers in Mombasa County. The PPEs included N95 masks, gloves, protective goggles, and protective shoes and aprons. The PPEs were also extended to community health workers in the county.
The 500 health workers from 7 hospitals in the county are able to provide care for COVID-19 patients without being at risk of being infected. The community health workers are protected being in the frontlines at community level. The fight against the disease has been boosted.
