About the project
The World Health Organisation estimates that there are 360million people globally with disabling hearing loss. 328million or 91 percent of these are adults while the rest are children. In Kenya, it is estimated that there are 600,000 people who are deaf.
Safaricom Foundation committed close to Kshs. 3.4million for screening, surgeries and after care of ENT patients in eight regions across Kenya. The project particularly targets needy children with hearing impairment. However, adults will also benefit from the entire exercise.
At least 240 people in eight regions across the country are set to benefit from the exercise that will run until 2017.
