About the project

The Challenge

The school did not have a consistent supply of water which forced students to utilize their school time fetching water 2Km away. The school depended on harvesting water but the area experienced seasonal rainfall therefore not enough for storage. Moreover, the water was often contaminated posing a risk of waterborne diseases as well as Covid-19 because of unreliable water supply.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Ndoto Zetu initiative supported the school with a 10, 000 litre water tank at a cost of KES 175,000.

The Impact

The additional tank will complement water supply from the other tanks ensuring that hygiene standards are achieved. Students will no longer need to compromise their study time in order to source for clean water hence improving the class attendance.
