About the project

The Challenge

Water scarcity in the area forced pupils to walk for several kilometers to fetch water. This was a disruption from their studies as they spent many hours away from class. Setting up handwashing areas was also an issue due to in accessible water sources.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation’s Ndoto Zetu initiative supported the school by setting up a 10,000-liter water tank at a cost of KES 175,000.

The Impact

The school is harvesting water for future use. They are also able to save the money that was previously used to purchase water from vendors.
