About the project
The school had received threats of school closure from the education authorities due to the state of the toilets as they did not match up to the public health standards. Additionally, pupils in Grade 2 and 3 sat on the floor during classes which caused lack of concentration and discomfort.
Safaricom Foundation handed over 9 latrines and over 40 desks for the classes at a cost of KES 1 million.
The toilets have helped manage the sanitation and hygiene level which has kept the school on the right side of the public health authorities. In addition, the desks have provided comfort to the students as well as ample space for learning and storage of books.
