About the project

The Challenge

The school could not meet the Ministry of Education’s directive to maintain social distance in schools due to inadequate desks. Some students were forced to attend their lessons under trees while others sat on the floor. However, classes were disrupted when it rained.  Additionally, the staffroom lacked tables and chairs for teachers.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Ndoto Zetu initiative supported the school with 28 desks and chairs at a cost of KES 200,000.

The Impact

The desks have enabled social distancing during classes giving students and teachers confidence that they are learning in a conducive environment with minimal risks of getting sick.
