About the project

The Challenge

Wezesha Elimu is a partnership between Safaricom Foundation and CBM Kenya which empowers children with disability to access education. In Nyeri, at least 500 school going children who were living with disability, could not go to school because they could not afford assistive devices or had not received corrective surgery to enable their mobility. They stayed at home while their counterparts gained from their studies at school.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation contributed KES 15 million to the third phase of Wezesha Elimu in Nyeri to enable the purchase of assistive devices and corrective surgery for school going children with disability.

The Impact

More than 500 children living with disability are going to school after getting assistive devices and having surgeries to help them with their functioning and mobility.
