About the project

The Challenge

The dispensary lacked safekeeping measures such as fencing and having secure window panes, which allowed access to everybody even those who were not patients. To add, the facility lacked the necessary lab equipment to conduct tests and diagnosis of medical conditions prompting them to refer patients to other hospitals.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation supported the dispensary by installing a perimeter fence and metallic window panes as well as renovating and equipping the laboratory at a cost of KES 960,000. The lab items included microscope, HB machine, weighing machine and a stitching tray among others.

The Impact

The fence has improved the security of the facility as well as the clients it serves. Moreover, the renovations have assisted the medical team to provide quality medical services and that they no longer need to refer patients to other medical centres for laboratory work.
