About the project

The Challenge

The facility did not have adequate equipment to serve the over 200 deliveries that came their way per month. This forced mothers to travel 80 km away to Wote to access maternity services.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation, through the Ndoto Zetu initiative, funded the equipping of the maternity wing by donating equipment such as a delivery bed, an incubator and a phototherapy machine. The investment was KES 1.5 million.

The Impact

Women in the community can rely on the health centre in their midst without referrals to Wote. The hospital has improved its services.
