About the project

The Challenge

The Polytechnic offers training on fashion and design, catering, ICT, and hairdressing and beauty therapy.

However, the school faced infrastructural issues such as buildings been old and worn out as well as workshops not accommodating the growing numbers of students. The school also lacked funds to purchase equipment for practical lessons.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Ndoto Zetu funded the institution with 5 sewing machines at a cost of KES 100,000.

The Impact

The sewing machines have enabled the institution to venture into commercial sewing and cloth making which is economically empowering the students and the community at large.
