About the project

The Challenge

The school lacked regular water supply and reservoir for storage of water that led to pupils fetching water from a nearby stream. This was particularly risky to the learners as the river was situated next to a forest that had wild animals.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation’s Ndoto Zetu initiative set up a 10,000-liter water tank and gutters at a cost of 175,000.

The Impact

The water harvested in the tank is being used for consumption, cleaning as well as the planting of vegetables and fruits on the school farm. In addition, students no longer need to walk in search of clean water hence maximizing their time for studies.
