About the project
The school had a shortage of latrines as the available one could not accommodate the over 245 children in the school. Boys had to endure with the old cracked wall facilities that were exposing them to infestation by jiggers. The latrines were also not in a friendly condition that consequently resulted in the ministry advocating for the closure of the school as it was causing a health hazard.
Safaricom Foundation through its Pamoja scheme funded the construction of a pit latrine with six compartments at a cost of KES 500,000.
The new latrine is anticipated to be used by 120 boys of the school. The latrine block will be instrumental in promoting sanitation and hygiene of the school.
