About the project

The Challenge

The school had been experiencing water scarcity for a long time since the school is located in a dry area.  It was difficult for the school to run their school activities such as cooking for the students and cleaning. Additionally, the school had spent a fortune in buying water for drinking and had used a bull-driven cart to fetch water for school maintenance.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation installed an elevated water tank and a water kiosk at a cost of KES 1,751,000.

The Impact

There is enough water that will help maintain the health and sanitation of the school and the community at large. The school has a chance to harvest and store water as well as start a kitchen garden. Moreover, through the water kiosk, the school is supporting the community to access water a small fee.
