About the project

The Challenge

Nyaburi Intergrated Primary School is located in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County. The school experiences frequent power outages due to unreliable electricity power supply in the area. This has in turn made it very hard to manage operations in the school especially at night for the children with special needs.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation purchased solar panels for the school to act as a backup for the normal power supply. The investment was worth Ksh.657, 000.

The Impact

The solar panels have acted as perfect back up whenever there is a power outage. This has further eased operations in the school and it has helped the school tremendously reduce the amount paid in electricity bills as they mostly use solar generated power.
