About the project

The Challenge

The school with a population of 158 pupils had only one toilet each for boys and girls. The toilets themselves were dilapidated and collapsing. Pupils were relieving themselves in nearby bushes.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation constructed a 14-door toilet at a cost of KES 1.3 million. 6 toilets for boys, 6 toilets for girls and 2 for teachers.

The Impact

The increased number of toilets has pupils relieving themselves in the modern toilets which has reduced the risk of them contracting waterborne diseases.
