About the project

The Challenge

There are 23 children- 16 boys and 7 girls- in Kianyaga Children’s Home for the physically challenged. Their disabilities vary from mental, speech impairment, hearing and visual challenges. Mobility for the children at Kianyaga Children’s Home was quite an uphill task. The children had a hard time moving around in the school compound from the dormitories to the classrooms and offices.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation donated Sh 1, 875, 000 towards the renovations of the pavement and water harvesting systems for the institution.

The Impact

The children can now easily access their facilities around the school with no problem at all. Water shortage is now a thing of the past in the institution as there is ample water supply from water harvesting.
