About the project

The Challenge

Kirwara Sub district hospital was opened in 1992 as a health centre by the retired president Daniel Arap Moi. The hospital has a theatre constructed through the Constituency Development Funds and Safaricom foundation took the role of fully equipping the theatre which was officially opened in February 2008. The hospital needed an ambulance in order to attend to emergency calls and transferrals with ease.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation funded the equipping of the theatre and purchase of an ambulance at Kshs 1,640,000 for Kirwara Sub district Hospital to support the hospital handling emergencies

The Impact

The approximate 20 cases that require an ambulance will now be attended to in time.Furthermore ambulance services will go a long way in decreasing mortality rates because expectant mothers can now access medical facilities on time.
