About the project

The Challenge

Five classrooms: Grade1, 2, 3 and two streams of Standard 6 were dilapidated and needed renovations. The floors were dusty which caused communicable diseases like colds and coughs.

The pupils brought water from home every day to sprinkle on the floor to settle the dust. The roofs were leaking disrupting classes during the rainy season, while some were loose and uprooted by strong winds.

The walls were crumbing, which endangered the learners.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation renovated the classrooms for KES 1.1 Million.

The Impact

Studies will go on in a conducive learning environment. The floors have been made, the roofs replaced by new ones and the walls plastered. Classes will no longer be disrupted because of rain or strong winds. The pupils will be shielded from harsh weather conditions.

The image of the school will improve with the facelifts done and bring about a much-needed morale boost among the learners and their teachers.
