About the project

The Challenge

The smooth operations of the maternity wing of the hospital were being threatened by unavailability of facilities such as beds and stretchers.

The delivery beds were not adjustable for the healthy positioning of expectant women.

The demands required of the hospital were overwhelming without the necessary equipment. For a hospital that handled 25 deliveries per day, the resources available were straining the hospital staff and affecting service delivery.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation, at a cost of KES 1 million, boosted the hospital with 10 ward beds, 2 delivery beds, a resuscitaire and 2 stretchers.

The Impact

The expanded bed space will boost services at the hospital.

The two adjustable delivery beds will improve service delivery, and the number of deliveries is expected to increase with the health centre having more facilities.
