About the project
The school of 352 students did not have a library. The books were kept in offices, therefore, limiting access to students.
Books often got misplaced with nowhere to keep them safely and properly. The teachers were keen to inculcate a reading culture, yet with no access to both text and recreational books, it was challenging.
Safaricom Foundation funded the construction of a library at KES 1.2 million. The library was furnished with reading tables, 40 chairs and shelves.
The students will have an opportunity to read for their academics and recreation with the library able to display a variety of books and keep them. The books will be kept safe and their conditions closely monitored.
The library will give the students a conducive environment to read and catch up with their studies. This will improve them academically.
