About the project

The Challenge

The school with 58 special students includes pupils living with disability, and orphaned and vulnerable children. They were learning in muddy, semi-permanent structures which were congested. The structures lacked learning facilities such as lockers, chairs and blackboards. The most affected were Standard 7 and 8 special pupils.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation constructed furnished classrooms for KES 2.2 million. The classrooms were each provided with specialized lockers and chairs for pupils living with disability.

The Impact

The pupils will have a conducive environment for learning. They will leave their congested classrooms, and have lockers and chairs to use. The pupils will have a sense of belonging among their school mates who have modern classrooms. This will give them morale to perform better.
