About the project

The Challenge

This school is located 20 kilometers west of Muranga Town. The school’s three classrooms that were donated by the Gitweku Primary School Management Committee were old and badly needed repair despite a population of 124 students.

The school is financed and maintained by the local community who are mainly peasant farmers.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation donated funded the construction of two fully furnished classrooms. These classrooms will be used by the form two and form four students who constitute the majority of the students.

The Impact

Congestion especially in the two most crowded classrooms will be eased and teachers will have easier access to their students.
