About the project
Nanyangakipi Primary School is a mixed school in Turkana County in which pupils faced harsh learning conditions. Most pupils had their classes under trees under intense heat from the sun. Strong winds knocked over blackboards and learning materials.
There were some pupils who were congested in mud-walled makeshift structures which served as classrooms. They sat on the floor in those structures and sat on rocks whenever they sat outside. They could not concentrate on their studies.
Safaricom Foundation constructed two classrooms at KES 2.5 million which were furnished with lockers, chairs and blackboards.
The pupils are studying in a conducive learning environment. This has uplifted their morale and academic performance.
