About the project

The Challenge

Chakareli primary school is located in Ol-Joro-Orok constituency, Nyandarua West sub-County in Nyandarua County. The school has a current population of five hundred and thirty nine (539) pupils and twenty one (21) teachers.

It has seven semi-permanent classrooms that have cracked walls, broken windows and potholes on the floor, making learning difficult.

The Intervention

The Safaricom Foundation invested Ksh. 1,000,022 towards the construction of a new classroom. The classroom will have adequate ventilation and lighting, wide passageways and spacious enough to allow easy interaction between the teachers and their pupils.

The Impact

The new classroom will ease learning for the pupils. The teachers now also have access to their pupils making teacher- pupils interaction easy. The pupils are now more motivated by their improved surroundings, therefore making learning easy and improving academic results
