About the project

The Challenge

The school was facing two challenges: one was congestion and the other was lack of a constant water supply.

Poor hygiene was causing health scares in the school due to the unavailability of clean and reliable water in the school.

The congested classrooms were making it difficult for pupils to learn effectively. It demotivated both teachers and students.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation stepped in with KES 1.5 million for the construction of a classroom furnished with 50 desks and a water harvesting system with two 10,000 litre water tanks.

The Impact

The school is more hygienic promoting the health and well-being of the students. The trusted water source will ensure water for drinking and cooking is clean and fit for consumption.

With the furnished classroom, decongestion will enhance education in that pupils will get enough time and resources to share with their teachers.
