About the project
With 21 special needs students had just one classroom without additional facilities such as bathrooms. The pupils were forced to share inadequate and scarce facilities which greatly affected their learning.
Safaricom Foundation partnered with the National Fund for Disabled Persons in Kenya (NFDK), and raised Ksh. 2.43 million to construct two classrooms, five door pit latrines and one urinal. The classrooms were also furnished with desks and other learning materials.
The new classrooms and bathroom facilities has encouraged more special needs children from Ngano and neighboring areas to go to school and concentrate on the studies without worrying about lack of facilities.
