About the project

The Challenge

Waldorf Kakuma Project is in Kakuma Turkana County. The school is one of the Accelerated Learning Programme centres that aim to improve competencies in reading and mathematics for children left behind through promoting active learning approaches.
The school had inadequate classrooms to cater for the number of students in Kakuma thus they needed extra classrooms.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation funded the construction of a classroom for the school at a cost of Ksh 1.4 Million

The Impact

The classroom has helped to ease congestion of pupils in classes thus the Accelerated Learning Programme can now impact more children in the region. The programme will be implemented in Turkana, Bungoma & Tana River counties.
