About the project

The Challenge

The teachers were congested in their staffroom. They had limited space to keep their instructional material, students’ records and personal property. The head teacher and his deputy did not have independent offices to work from and hold meetings.

The limitations of the staffroom caused misplacement of important documents. The teachers could not interact with their students as often as they would have liked because of the squeezed space.

The building was developing cracks which posed a safety risk for the staff.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation constructed a spacious administration block with a staffroom at KES 1 million and separate offices for the head teacher and his deputy.

The Impact

The teachers will have enough room to store their records and property. The head teacher has space in his office to hold meetings as well as the teachers who now have a spacious staffroom to operate in. This will increase efficiency and boost morale for the staff.

The new administration block has addressed safety concerns for the teachers’ well-being and their property.
