About the project

The Challenge

St Joseph’s Secondary School is a mixed secondary school in Nakuru County. The school did not have toilets for its 128 girls. They shared toilets with girls from primary school which congested the toilets which made them queue to access them.

Academically, this wasted their time and at the same time put their health at risk of waterborne diseases.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation constructed a 6 door ablution block at KES 800, 000. Also, the teachers had their block with a toilet each for ladies and gents.

The Impact

The girls are in a healthy and conducive learning environment with toilets in their school compound. They use less time on relief breaks and are more focused on their schoolwork.
