About the project

The Challenge

Mnengwa Primary School is a mixed school of 400 pupils. The pupils and teachers had several challenges.

They hardly used their library which lacked infrastructure such as shelves and the doors, windows and floors were in poor condition.

The school also had limited water supply to the school. The toilets were not enough for the 400 pupils. This brought about cases of water borne diseases.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation renovated the school’s library, set up two 10, 000 litre water tanks and constructed 3 ablution blocks.

The Impact

The pupils are using the library to revise and improve on their academics. The school environment is hygienic reducing cases of diseases. The pupils have a conducive learning environment.
