About the project

The Challenge

The Ewang’ang E- Suswa Health Centre located in Narok County lacked the capacity to attend the women and children who needed their services. Antenatal and post natal services for mothers and their new born babies were not sufficient.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation funded the construction of a maternity wing at a cost of Ksh 6.4 million. This ties in with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a set of 17 goals aimed at ending poverty around the world. The third goal focuses on providing good health and wellbeing to all.

The Impact

The new maternity wing will give women and families the services, both in terms of quality and availability, which they need to carry them through this journey and make it a little less stressful.
