About the project
Butiik Dispensary is a Medical Health Centre located in Bomet County that caters for averagely 150 patients everyday who visit for both in and outpatient services. The facility lacked a maternity unit hence it was a struggle for the women in the area who needed maternal health services forcing many of them to opt for home deliveries as a result of challenges accessing skilled care.
The Safaricom Foundation invested a total of Ksh. 1,188,220 towards constructing and equipping a maternity wing at the dispensary. This was to help provide critical maternal health services to the women in that region.
The maternity unit has helped to turn around the number of home deliveries into safe skilled deliveries. It has also improved maternal health services in Butiik and impacted on health in the vast Bomet County. Many women can today access the facility and receive required assistance.
