About the project

The Challenge

Nyosia II Primary School is located in Kisii County. Over the years the school has lacked a library. It had to store books on the floor of a small store room and still the books were not enough. This seriously hindered learning in the institution as finding revision resource books to cater for the over 400 pupils was a challenge.

The Intervention

The Safaricom Foundation invested a total of Ksh. 1 million towards the construction of a new Library in the school. This was to facilitate access to quality education for the pupils to increase their literacy and numeracy levels.

The Impact

The library has provided a vital resource centre for the pupils. They can now adequately read and prepare for examinations and compete favorably with other pupils across the nation. The library is great resource not only to the students but also the teachers who use it to better the education standards at Nyosia II Primary School.
