About the project
Mandera DEB Primary School is located in an area where the girl child is under consistent threat of dropping out of school.
The lack of a boarding facility led to a decrease in the number of girls enrolled at the institution.
Safaricom Foundation invested Kshs.9.2million towards the construction and equipping of an 80-bed capacity dormitory to host girls aged between 13 and 17 years. Girls with disabilities, orphans and teenagers from financially challenged backgrounds were given priority.
The dormitory will ensure vulnerable girls remain in school to access equal learning opportunity.
