About the project
With the onset of free primary education in 2003, more and more students have enrolled in school leaving the few resources strained. This is the same situation faced at Siany Kabonyo Primary School in Kakamega County. The school was left to survive with the very few resources that made learning very difficult and tasking.
Safaricom Foundation in partnership with Coca-Cola Company and The Tinga Tinga Tales Foundation funded the construction of a classroom valued at Ksh 1.5 million. This was through the Know and Grow Initiative, a project that seeks to improve the learning environment in primary schools countrywide.
Significant impact has been noted in the school. The students of this school now have ample room to learn and easily interact with their teachers and fellow students. In enabling environment to thrive in their studies has now been realized.
