About the project
Siakago Boys High School has a total of 800 students. However, this school suffers congestion with a class having over 200 students. This allows very limited student-teacher contact, encourages conflict and respiratory diseases which greatly contribute to poor concentration which lead to poor academic performance generally.
The fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) aims to ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy by 2030 as well as build and upgrade education facilities that are child, disability and gender sensitive.
It was for this reason that the Safaricom Foundation invested Kshs 1.1 million towards construction and furnishing of the new classroom towards decongestion and improved academic performance.
The new classroom will serve the 220 Form 3 students. This new classroom will also allow for a healthy student-teacher interaction, improve concentration in class as well as reduce the number of absenteeism due to respiratory infections.
