About the project
Kwanjora Special Boarding School is located in Nyandarua County, North Sub County. It was started by the Ministry of Education in 1998 to cater for children with cerebral palsy to assist them with basic education and integration into the community.
The school has two classrooms that are very congested making learning for the 35 pupils difficult.
The old administrative building block does not have room for the head teacher, his deputy and staff members.
The Safaricom Foundation invested Ksh. 3,466,000 towards the construction of a new special classroom and an administration block.
The newly constructed special classroom will have adequate ventilation and proper lighting, wide passageways, well fitted windows, a lockable cabinet and a special W.C toilet.
The new administrative block will see the head teacher, the deputy head teacher, and members of the staff have offices.
The special classroom will cater for a maximum of 6 pupils, which is the number allowed to sit per class. This will help decongest the classrooms and allow teachers to access the pupils easily.
The administration block will be a landmark to the school and the teachers now have room to plan their lessons, mark the papers and go about their duties.
